Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
• Diagnose and treat mental health and behavioral health conditions.
• Obtain medical and psychiatric histories and perform mental status examinations.
• Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications.
• Monitor medication effectiveness, response, compliance, and potential concerns.
• Develop individualized treatment and service plans.
• Evaluate complex mental, emotional, behavioral, and physical health needs.
• Provide case management and coordinate care with community providers.
• Work with individuals experiencing serious mental illness, substance-use disorders, developmental disabilities, and co-occurring disorders.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, clinicians, nurses, and other multidisciplinary team members.
• Monitor the delivery of clinical services and participant treatment.
• Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Participate in periodic on-call responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing
• Current Virginia Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner license
• Minimum 2 years of clinical practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
• DEA registration/certificate to prescribe controlled substances
• Knowledge and experience working with mental illness and substance-use disorders
• Knowledge of co-occurring mental health and substance-use disorders
• Ability to prescribe and manage medications within the scope of practice
• Ability to perform psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management

Preferred / Relevant Experience

• Experience in community behavioral health
• Experience with crisis stabilization or crisis services
• Experience treating serious mental illness
• Experience working with substance-use disorders
• Experience with co-occurring disorders
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
• Experience in multidisciplinary behavioral health settings

Schedule

• Standard business hours
• Periodic on-call responsibilities outside normal working hours
